One of the resources I recommend starting with is this free budgeting template that I've shared with over 50,000 people already. It's simple, but mighty. And it does the job. Let's get into it.

Truth be told — things never happen the way we think they will. Just look at what happened in California this year. Many have lost the homes they worked so hard to buy.

A lot of people think that in order to build generational wealth, you need to buy a house or have a 6-figure job. The truth is, you don't need a $100,000 job. You don't need to buy a house either. Anyone can build wealth – even with as little as $1. (I started building wealth while earning my teacher salary, and I could've started long before.)

So what's the key to building wealth? Planning! Carefully and often.

We start with planning for the short-term, like this:

• You know you're earning $1,000/month, so you plan ahead before spending this money to maximize its value 🗓️

Then you start planning for the shorter long-term, like this:

• You know you spend a lot on holiday gifts each year, so you start a sinking fund where you add $100 each month starting in January 🎁

Eventually, you'll get to a point where you start planning for the long (long) term, like this:

• You don't want to keep working until you're old and gray, so you figure out how to retire comfortably (and early), and you max out your Roth IRA every year 📈 starting this year with $583 a month
